Behavior Management
A simple, structured behavior management plan is used in my classroom to limit distractions and negative behaviors that may interrupt the learning process. Certain classroom rules are set forth on the first day of the school year. If these rules are broken, then the following steps are taken into action:
1. A teacher conference with the student is conducted explaining the infraction and what is expected in future situations.
2. The student will sit out to the side and refrain from class activities for five
minutes.
3. Parental contact is made and the student will fill out and sign a behavior incident form.
4. A referral to the office is written if the student is at risk to harm
him/herself or others.
