Mr. Kirk
Collinsville Middle School
P.E. Department
Parents/Guardians and Students,
Welcome to Collinsville Middle School, home of the Trailblazers! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Mr. Doug Kirk and I am currently in my eighth year of teaching at Collinsville Middle School. Prior to teaching physical education, I taught health at Collinsville Middle School during my first four years of teaching. I enjoy teaching at CMS and love being a part of the wonderful staff in CUSD #10. I am very excited about the school year and hope that you have a wonderful experience in P.E. class.
I grew up in Benton, Illinois where I was involved in sports at a very young age. I graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 2000. There, I participated in basketball, football, baseball, and cross country. My parents were very active in my education and encouraged me to always try my best. Staying involved in sports and other extra-curricular activities helped me to learn teamwork, cooperation, motivation, perseverance, and self-respect. I have learned so much in my life because of my parents, teachers, and coaches. It is because of them that I became a teacher to help students reach their goals.
I received my bachelor of science degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May, 2007. I recently completed my Master's degree in Special Education from SIUE. In addition to teaching at CMS, I also am a part of the Rising Star team (student assistance program), FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and coach CMS track & field and high school basketball. I love working with all students and helping them utilize their strengths in order to achieve academic success. I look forward to working with all of you.
GO TRAILBLAZERS! GO KAHOKS!
